DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) — A Pakistani Taliban spokesman has confirmed the death of the militant group's leader in a U.S. drone strike.
Azam Tariq, the spokesman for the Taliban in the South Waziristan tribal area, said Saturday that the group will choose a successor for Hakimullah Mehsud in the coming days.
Intelligence officials and militant commanders have said Mehsud was a killed by a U.S. drone strike on a compound in the North Waziristan tribal area on Friday.
