Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education

JOB DESCRIPTION: Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education/Conductor of Bel Canto Women?s Chorus and Laramie Civic Chorus.? This is a tenure track position.
?
?
DUTIES: Conduct and establish a dynamic vision for Bel Canto Women?s Chorus and the Laramie Civic Chorus. Teach and implement engaging modes of learning in the vocal music education sequence.? Become a vigorous and dedicated partner with the Director of Choral Activities to shape and further strengthen the entire choral program.? Build and foster positive relationships with public schools, community colleges, and professional music organizations that will contribute to successful recruiting.? ?Establish a reputation for excellence in research and creative activity.?? Complement and augment the Choral and Vocal Arts Areas, a faculty team dedicated to an inclusive and creative learning environment. Assist the department by teaching other classes in area(s) of expertise and interest.

Minimum QUALIFICATIONS:??
- ABD (Doctorate required and must be complete by August 2013). ?
- Evidence of successful choral conducting as a college faculty member or graduate assistant.
- Successful public school teaching experience.? ?
- Strong background in choral conducting and music education.
?
Preferred QUALIFICATIONS:?
- Evidence of recent successful and significant public school, university, and/or professional experience with a strong record of achievement as a conductor and educator.? ??
- Evidence of successful recruiting.?
- Functional piano skills in a choral setting.
- Ability to assist in building and recruiting for our new MM in Choral Conducting degree.
?
We are seeking an excellent musician with outstanding teaching technique, the ability to assist with the coordination and administration of all aspects of the choral program and to work collegially with students, faculty, and staff in a multi-faceted and highly successful performing arts program.?
?
RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor, salary competitive.
?
